People Hear Hearts

"But their heart is far from Me" Matthew 15:8c

"Hear and understand: Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man." Matthew 15:11

"But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.  These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."
Matthew 15:18-20

Jesus' younger brother James gives us the way to avoid the sin and DANGER of fast talking.

"So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God." James 1:19-20

God of all grace, abundant in mercy and Giver of all good and great gifts, we ask in the matchless name of Jesus to become thoughtful, prayerful, impactful speakers.  Far too often, we confess that we speak thoughtlessly, mindlessly, way too quickly, devoid of heart and clearly demonstrating our foolishness to all our listeners. God, would You remind us that You are the first we offend? You know our thoughts before we think them. You know when we think we are so smart that we have to say something very sharply or quickly so others will notice our "smarts"while totally ignoring Your warnings to simply slowdown; to be thoughtful and then to speak cautiously being aware of our listeners. We repent now, in Jesus name, of all our foolish, reckless and thoughtless speaking behavior. Replace our ways with Your ways, Your words and Your love for our listeners!!! Thank You for Your patient love and clear, deep reaching word.  Amen.
