Slow to speak, Quick to pray, Less words to say, Displaying more Power.
"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that EVERY IDLE WORD MEN MAY SPEAK, ("anyway, it's just like, you know") they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned."
Jesus.
Matthew 12:33-37
mouth fruit grows from the heart - dead, useless words are from a dead heart and produce nothing healthy
For me, IDLE words are IDOL words, displaying "self-idolatry" and pridefully thinking your words are so smart when they are obviously from a cold, pride laden heart. Words display, His word or our own selfish ones. Cure? James, Jesus' brother has the cure:
"So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." James 1:19-22
Clue: You might fool yourself into thinking you are mighty in words, and oh so smart, but no. Your words display that you are the fool, and that you fool no one, starting with God!
God of all grace, mighty in power, maker and mover of all mountains, we ask in the matchless name of Jesus that You make us slow to speak, quick to pray and have less words to say, displaying more influence, more love, more power and less of ourselves. Thank You. Amen.
Jesus.
