An 11 day journey turns into 40 years. Why? Disobedience and Self love.
"It is eleven days' journey from Horeb by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea. Now it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month
that Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that at the LORD had given him as commandments to them ……" Deuteronomy 1:2-3
I love this book of Deuteronomy. We see the word "love" is used sixteen times and "observe" is used 21 times giving us a theme of love and obedience. God forces us to do nothing. He created us to live by making choices. He gives us the best way to go and then we choose, His way or our way. We can make an 11 day journey into 40 years of wandering by the choices we make. I want to waste no earth time. Deuteronomy helps me "see" where I want to go and how to get there, by loving and obeying God and NOT obeying self-love, or obeying fleshly instincts or obeying the self-made thoughts which cause me to put my way above His way of living.
God of all Grace, Leader, Feeder and Giver of all good and great gifts, we come to You. Help us see Jesus and follow Him through 2014. Cause us to love Him more. To learn Your word better. To do Your word. Simply, cause us to TRUST and OBEY You, and not ourselves. We are so good at turning an 11 day journey into a 40 year wander. We want to repent of all our circular, wandering ways of doing life. Highlight how and why we wander. Cause us to understand and stop it. Give us will and the joy of discipline. Set us on Your higher path, not for our selfish sake's but to shine light on Your higher better ways of everything! Thank You that it is never too late to change directions from self devoted to devoted wholeheartedly, in full faith, in pure love with You. Thank You for Your patience. Move us today. Please don't let us wander again. You've made us to trust and obey. Give us faith to do it.
We thank You and ask You to send Peace to Jerusalem, to free Saeed and every captive and all jailers, that soon and very soon every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD. Make us more dedicated to You daily, for the Sake of Jesus. Amen.
Choices: To trust and obey. There is no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Choose to live Yahweh, not My Way.
Or don't choose, which is a choice.
