"Sin is God's term and the Devil's trade." a cindy-ism
As I mature in faith, I tend to see sin more simply. Wine is not sinful. Wine is a drink. Can wine cause us to sin? Ask God. God defines sin for us. Without God, there is no common definition of sin, or reason NOT to sin. He's our judge and Savior. Proverbs 23:29-35 describes the descent into alcoholism and wine's role into that descent.
There are reasons why we choose to leave sobriety. There are reasons why we choose to become drunk. There are reasons why we choose to sin. These reasons, are His workshop.
The Devil wants to "win" us from Him. The Devil's tasty tool is temptation. No one is immune. The Devil is the king of rationalizations, excuses and accusing. The Devil is the Accuser. Jesus, the Excuser.
"We volunteer for Him, or for Sin."
"Sin is, people abuse."
"I like to do little, sin studies, because I want to understand sin better and avoid it more often!"
God, help us to never grow complacent about sin. If You were complacent about sin, You would never have had to see Jesus suffer and die on the cross. Please, keep us caring deeply about sin, and all sin in our lives.
May we keep things sheep simple! Help us never listen to the accusing lies that the Devil always tells us. Remind us to listen to Your word, and recall Your promises. Thank You for wanting us to be with You in all holiness. Thank You for taking us just as we are; for forgiving us, and cleansing us, from all our sin. Please keep us from the sin of unbelief. We ask these things in Jesus name and for His sake, Amen.
