Noticing the Maker of the Pool, or Overlooking, God.
Valleys of Vision are special places, with living water and sometimes, pools!
Sometimes we see doom coming, like a slow train wreck. These days seem like we're in a Valley but we have Vision. We have been given unlimited vision as we look upward. We are urged to look past the limiting valley walls and see the ONE who allowed them to be formed. He formed each mountain top and valley floor, never for our harm. He gives us vision past circumstances which to me, seem like those differing, fact patterns that always, encircle us. He stands with us, in and just beyond every circumstance. I think He wants us to see Him standing behind everything that comes our way, that we know nothing touches us that hasn't first been "Father filtered." We are never alone, thank God.
I don't know all of what Isaiah is describing in chapter 22, but God works with me about the Valley of Vision. I kinda love the concept because when faced with spending time in a valley, we don't have to be bound by it's walls. We can have Vision. We can have Valley Testimonies of seeing His work. We don't have to continually gaze into the walls without seeing the Maker of our current Valley. We can instantly look upward and receive unlimited vision of our Maker's unlimitedness. The sky is NOT the limit and is available to everyone always, simply by looking up to the sky's Maker. We have unlimited vision even without the gift of sight, or with dimming eyesight. We can see with the eyes of our heart. Many hymns have been written by the eyes of one's heart.
Isaiah gives us a series of great descriptions of breaking down the walls, crying to the mountain, removing protection from Judah and seeing damage. He also says in Isaiah 22:11 "You also made a reservoir between the two walls, For the water of the old pool. But you did not look to its Maker, Nor did you have respect for Him who fashioned it long ago." This was a rebuke for being wise and skilled at making a reservoir, yet failing to look to the Maker of the pool. We can see with the eyes of faith. Faith which sees past walls. Heaven help us not to overlook, God!
Father of all that is, was and will be, Maker of heaven and earth, Giver of Grace and Former of our Vision; You are the One who is present with us in every Valley, as well as over it and outside of it. Please inform and form each of our prayers. Help us to always LOOK FOR YOU. Please patiently remind us to LOOK UPWARD past the Valley walls. Help us to have vision and not simply sight. We ask You for more than wisdom, but for the supernatural vision, with the help of the Holy Spirit Himself to see things we've never noticed before. We want to walk by faith and not by sight. Thank You for the eyes of faith. Faith sees past the darkness. During the darkening we see happening on earth, we thank You that we remain in the light of Your saving love. Your changeless love, makes us want to spread the gospel to the blind and dying. Help us not to cast pearls before swine and to let You define EVERYTHING for us, perhaps especially our own sin. We want You to send us and to never to be "self sent" with a diluted gospel. We so want to be found faithful, walking closely with You and serving You with every breath unworried about the encroaching darkness. We simply must and deeply want to notice, the Maker of the pool! We hope to NEVER OVERLOOK YOU ever, but always LOOK UP TO YOU.
In Jesus name we ask these things and pray peace to Israel. Amen.
