GUARDS PROTECT from HARM, THEFT and DESTRUCTION.

It seems our LORD requires that we guard our lips. We must guard them from what goes into them, what comes out of them and where we put them. Seems simple enough, but it isn't. Lips are the door to our mouths which house our tongues, which the Bible says are untamable. With our tongues we both bless and curse. We're told the tongue is a "fire" according to James chapter 3. Fires hurt. 

I like to breathe a 'guarding prayer' over my lips every time I apply lip liner and lipstick. I pray for God to PLEASE guard and protect me from doing any word-damage, to Him, to others and to myself. I need to refresh my liner and lips all day, so it's a good continual prayer. When our lips are praying, they can't be saying hurtful harm. Now I see why we're told to pray without ceasing!! 

Help my lips to pray and sing praise. Help them never to spit out words of spite, hate or hurt. As I apply my lip liner and lipstick, would You put Your guarding word, ready on my lips? Have learned that rash, rushed words = stupidity. Thank You. Amen.
