Putting Self-Pity to Death

When dancing on the edge of the pit of self-pity, we risk a fall. The pity-full, fall pitifully.
We build godless, good-less thought patterns which become self-destructive, sin-full, pity-full prisons.

God of all mercy, redemption, renewing, rebuilding, rebooting and reconciliation, it is to You we come to form and inform our prayers. Remove our self focused, self-pitying, whining ways. We confess we are unloving, insecure, stupid and a cold-hearted people when self-focused. Thanks for thinking better thoughts toward us that we think of ourselves. Thanks for forgiveness and for steadily reminding us to put You first. Your word is a lamp to our feet, a light to our hearts and hope to our very souls. You watch us look away from You, Your word and look into circumstances. You are so patient with us. We look at things which surround us, instead of always and only to YOU, the ONE who FOUND us.

Help us repent repeatedly, authentically and sincerely. Cause us to daily be found, leaving the weights of the past in the past where they belong. May we shine today? Help our godless, good-less thoughts to simply vanish. Please, never stop encouraging us. Oh God, how we need You. Please grow us past our pity-full thought patterns.  If we don't put You first, we should simply expect the worst. We ask for peace to Israel and all these other pity-full things, in the matchless, all powerful, name of Jesus, our very best friend and Savior. Amen.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:4-7

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
