The Last Supper, The Agony in the Garden and so much more happened…...

Tonite, when we gather for dinner, the night before Good Friday, let us remember Jesus' last supper.
It's important to note, that the popular rendering of Leonardo daVinci's "Last Supper" is romantic and not realistic. The traditional way of breaking bread together did not happen at a table with chairs. it was more of a "U" shaped table arrangement on the floor with cushions all around so the guests could speak with one another more easily. It was much more intimate, than the formality, portrayed in Leonardo's famous painting.  This was their last supper together, their last communion and where His heartbreaking betrayal would take place. After supper, some of the disciples went with Jesus, to the Garden of Gethsemane. They were not able to stay awake and keep Him company. So Jesus agonized in prayer, fully realizing the impact of what was to come. He was about to suffer as no human had ever suffered. He carried the weight of all sin, for all time. Devastatingly horrific suffering unlike earth has ever seen or ever will see again. He was prayerfully, preparing to become, our most powerful and holy sacrifice. His death on the cross would and does, cancel all sin for believers, once and for all, for all time. Jesus is Lord, King of Kings, Messiah according to God's plan for all, Jesus is coming again.

As we approach Good Friday, let us be ever aware of His holiness, His perfection, His obedience, His love, His unconditional forgiveness available to every broken sinner, who repents and believes He is Jesus, that He is salvation. THE GRAVE COULD NOT CONTAIN HIM. He would be resurrected, on the 3rd day.

We honor You Father God, the One true God. We cannot imagine the agony You felt as You watched the humiliation, pain and agony Jesus suffered. His perfect heart of obedience that never let You down Father God. He finished it. He cancelled sin. Oh God, please bring everyone to You that is going to come to You soon and very soon. As You know, many Christians were murdered in Kenya today, just because they said they were Christians. We can barely take in the news reports of the evil being done, and the sin being committed against Christians everyday, just because they love You.

You see all. How holy, and awesome You are. How patient You are. God in Your most Holy Name we come to You asking You to give us Your heart for others, Your will for our daily lives and Your enabling to spread the gospel daily. One day we will be with You for the wedding feast in heaven. Until that time, we ask You to partner with us closer than ever before, that we may be found faithful during these bleak and murderous times. Soon, we will see the King. We pray peace to Israel in the matchless, majestic name of our Messiah, Jesus. Amen.
