His Majesty's Secret Service

I love how Jesus performed astounding miracles, spoke words of eternal life and light,  drawing huge crowds and how He did the same things for smaller groups, even doing miracles one by one privately.

In Acts 9:10-15 How the Lord said in a vision, "Ananias," and he said "here I am, Lord."
I love this. Ananias knew the Lord's voice. Jesus and Ananias had a conversation which did not start face to face. It began in a vision. How secret is that? How personal is that?  How powerful is that? The Lord continues the same. I believe He speaks continually to us in the same way, but are we living anticipating His call? Are we believing, living serving, living listening, living ready to hear him a vision?  Yes we have decided to follow Jesus and heed His warnings. Yes we serve in secret. We are in His Majesty's Secret Service.

Matthew 6 and many places in the old testament warn of displaying our "spirituality," praying loudly in public, giving so that others see us give, publishing our donations so that other men can see etc.
We are warned to give in secret. Why? God sees in secret and will reward us openly. "Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men.  Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly." Matthew 6:1-4 Yes we give in secret.

There are so many reasons for secrecy. Some are strategic from a spiritual warfare point of view, that secrecy protects the spreading of the gospel. Secrecy protects the gospel spreaders. Secrecy protects charitable donors from predatory takers.
Secrecy is God's command, not an option for us to break: "take heed YOU DO NOT DO YOUR CHARITABLE DEEDS BEFORE MEN TO BE SEEN BY THEM." Godly giving happens from our thoughts,  our hearts and our spirits being in concert with His heart, His plans and His will. This typifies our daily walk.

God of all Grace, Father of all mercy, Giver of all good and great gifts -  we come to You in prayer, so thankful that Jesus is interceding for us even now. That only He makes our prayers, holy and right, offered in humble fear and whole faith. That our prayer may be acceptable in Your sight. You are such a good and great God. Would You allow us today to please You more? To be more aware of the creep of unbelief. To be more faithful. To be found faithful and listening always and forever for You in visions, dreams, while reading Your word, in prayer and everywhere every moment of all our earth time. Increase our faith. Build our godliness. Cause us to honor the command of secrecy without question and with rapt obedience. Please forgive any published aspects of our giving, where other men have applauded or found out because we were publicly rewarded for our giving. You say the public reward is all public givers receive. We want no public notice, just Your heart to be honored, glorified and treated with the respect such giving requires.
We ask these things in the matchless name of Jesus. Amen.
