Recently I read a story about a world class violinist who was playing on a priceless violin in a train station in Washington DC. Video shows hardly anyone even noticed him. A virtuoso on a violin valuable beyond pricing, standing amidst the masses, virtually unnoticed. I wonder if God ever feels that way? Standing in our midst, virtually unnoticed. Whenever I feel invisible, I wonder how God feels every time I overlook Him, not putting Him first or by not following Him closely.
To some He is invisible yet to believers always visible that we may keep our eyes on Jesus in order to follow Him closely. To place our feet in His footsteps before we trail off, come to a cliff and begin to fall.
Sometimes we feel invisible as we spend too much time in the futility of our own personal thought lives. We try to figure things out. No where in the Bible does God say, "figure this out" and everywhere He tells us to whole heartedly trust in Him, working, watching, walking with Him all the while, readying for His plans to take place which we see and know by faith. "For we walk by faith and not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7
God of all grace, all mercy, all goodness and great things we ask You to help us PRACTICE Your PRESENCE. We have decided to "follow Jesus" therefore we have decided to keep You in our sights, right in front of us. We have decided to hear Your voice above all the others competing for our attention. We have decided to serve You with all our hearts, keeping our own hearts with diligence, filled with You by Your Holy Spirit and emptied of fleshly selfish pride. We have decided You are WITH us, closer to us than the air we breathe because You love us and continually tell us how these things are done in Your word, our Bibles. Help us PRACTICE Your PRESENCE every moment of life here on earth. Help us practice and WITNESS Your WITHNESS. Thank You for Gifting, Lifting and Shifting us outside of our selfish selves and futile thought wanderings into Your Powerful, Personal Presence. In the matchless name of Jesus. Amen.
