My first granddaughter is named Grace. She's just four months old, can belly laugh and turn from her back to her tummy by herself. Grace is amazing and tickles me to my soul! I love her name. The gift of Grace has become paramount in our lives over many years of walking with Jesus on this earth.
My dearest friend in the world sent me a prayer request this morning for more grace. She's at the bedside of her namesake, her 99 year old aunt, who has loved Jesus her entire life. Her aunt is ready for heaven, but her body won't give up. She has been suffering alot these past 3 days with nothing anyone can do to help. My friend is asking for more grace.
As I think and prepare to pray for my friend, am struck by the notion of making room for Grace, our new granddaughter in our living area, and for my dear friend needing to make room for more grace during this present trial of love and faith.
God of all Grace, all mighty in power, maker and mover of every mountain You tell us when faced with a mountain to shout "Grace, grace to it!" and it will become a plain in Zechariah 4:6-7 paraphrased by me Lord. God, help her do some "will matching" today as she dies to self and enters into the strength and power of Your perfect will. Match her will to Yours, so she "sees" Your timing, and Your hand in the whole view of her aunt's last days. Only Your will, will do for my friend and for me. As Jesus did in the Garden, He matched His will to Yours, saying, "Thy will be done" and that's the bottom line for us Lord God. Help my friend at this mountain of a heart aching time, to find her will matching Yours. Lead her out to the overwhelmed empty place being tired and sad can leave us.
Lift her up into Your perfect will. May I also be found there, in the center of Your will.
Help us make room for grace as we die to self, get rid of our own ideas of everything and just enter into Your open heart, perfect will. You are our endless, boundless, Dispenser of grace.
We ask this in the matchless name of Jesus. We pray also for the peace of Israel. Amen.
