Sometimes we set ourselves up for disappointment. I do. I put my expectations in the wrong order, in the wrong people and grow them from the wrong place in my heart. However, I am learning to use the spiritual gift of self-control to change my waywardly placed expectations, and move them into proper placement thanks to Psalm 62. Sometimes life issues get confusing. Psalm 61 deals with confusion swiftly and with spirit. We can get confused so easily, especially when we are not checking in with God, and trying to control everything by ourselves. Trusting ourselves over God.
NOT SMART.
How really stupid. How confusingly, self defeating and disappointing!!! What to do? Rely on Him.
Psalm 60:3
You have shown Your people hard things;
You have made us drink the wine of confusion.
Psalm 60:11-12
Give us help from trouble,
For the help of man is useless.
Through God we will do valiant,
For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.
Psalm 62:5-8
My soul, wait silently for God alone
For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
Lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him
And He will direct your paths.
Proverbs 28:26
He who trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.
God of all Grace, all mighty in power, designer of life, Creator, King and all wise and knowing One,
we come to You asking You to form and hear our prayer. We seek not to pray amiss. We simply want to practice Your presence always and do Holy Spirit reliance. How the simple science of Spirit-reliance produces everyday miracles and glorifies You. How the confusing defiance of self-reliance produces
so much disappointment and defeat. We adore You for giving us an all powerful Helper, the Holy Spirit Himself and for forgiving us our self-defeating moments and even erasing them. You have a really big eraser. We are so thankful.
My expectation is from You. Please design my expectations.
God, thank You for Jesus, the Person of the Holy Spirit Himself, Your mighty love and patience and for being such a revealing God! We love and need You always in all ways. We say and ask these things in the matchless name of Jesus and for His sake. We also pray peace for Israel. Amen.
