Shielded, blasting full speed ahead!!!

"Do not be afraid Abram. I AM your shield, your exceedingly great reward." Genesis 15:1b

"As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him."  2 Samuel 22:31

Captain America, the Winter Soldier movie, has a memorable scene. Captain America, holding his shield in front of him, runs full speed ahead, blasting through blockades and door after door.  My husband likes this visual image. We thought, God is our shield. We are to put HIM first for SO MANY REASONS. He deserves to be first, and WE NEED HIM TO BE FIRST.  He is completely successful and does all things well. God cannot fail. God can. So why do we forget to put Him first?

God of all time, designer of history and holder of all futures, we come to You asking You to form and inform our prayers, to build and transform us and to guide us keeping us in Your light, for in Your light we see light. We are so blind sometimes. We are so prayerless and unaware when we are not diligently putting You, our shield, first.  Please forgive us and replace our lazy decision making, our offensive behaviors of all kinds and our GREAT SELFISHNESS AND PRIDE when we operate like "everything depends on us." HOW FOOLISH.

God thank You that You are our shield. You are the shield of every believing man looking to earn income to take care of his family and give in Your name.
You are the shield of every believer preparing to pass the bar and exams of all kinds.
You are our shield.

You know we need shielding. Shields are for warfare. We encounter opposition everywhere here on earth but we are not defenseless. We have armor which includes the only shield we'll ever need. You.
Shields are to be placed IN FRONT OF US, to receive ONCOMING fire, spears, arrows, missiles and attacks of all kinds. KEEP US MOVING FORWARD, confident in YOUR SHIELDING.

Forgive our empty prideful habits and cause us to YIELD to YOU, our SHIELD.
