Studying Numbers this morning, saw God's terms for sin quite clearly. They seem to center on the pride of unbelief, rebellion, rejection and outright following what the flesh wants. These same sins are thriving today. Some people blush. Some people carry guilt. Some people develop hard hearts from overlooking their own sins. Some people become accusers of the brethren by judging one another and so on. Sin according to God, is both intentional and unintentional. Both bring reproach upon Him. Holiness and sin don't mix. Do we care? Have believers become blind to their own sins of tolerance, doing nothing and expecting everything? Could He see this kind of sin as presumption on our part?
It's so important for us to know recognize, WHAT is of SIN and what is of HIM.
Presumption Brings Reproach on the LORD and results in a LOAD of GUILT.
"But the person who does anything presumptuously, whether he is native-born or a stranger, that one brings reproach on the LORD and shall be cut off from among his people. Because he has despised the word of the LORD, and has broken His commandment, that person shall be completely cut off; his guilt shall be upon him." Leviticus 20:30-31
Man still tries to be in charge of God's business, which is eerily similar to Satan's tries to be equal to and more important than God. Today mankind tries to assume control of weather, climate, politics, religion, countries, physical sports performances, financial gains, giving, losses and empire building. These are only a few of what I see as examples of our PRESUMPTUOUS sins. For example, how can scientists believe weather and climate is within our control, cause and effect? How can science believe we came from monkeys without mountains of fossil transitional proof? The One who invented science, made the stars, hung the sun and moon. He notices all our presumptions and always has. How dare unbelieving, mankind seek to redefine sin, redefine life, redefine marriage, redefine addiction and disease, tolerate it, and even legalize it? God gave mankind care-taking-dominion over the land, animals and God-given life. He never intends for us to be "in-charge"at all. No, He's in charge. He's our heavenly Father, who knows best. He keeps the earth spinning. Imagine that, and then imagine it spinning out of control.
