I often need help remembering. Remembering is not just a mental exercise. Remembering is a response to the past. Is forgetting the same as deciding not to remember? Heavens no! Deciding NOT to remember is godly! Check it out….
Isaiah chapter 43 helps us move forward with faith and strength. It is a great place to ponder while looking forward, unafraid, to the New Year and gratefully, recalling blessings from the Year almost Past.
Don't be afraid:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;" Isaiah 43:1c-3b
About the old and new:
"Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing!"
Isaiah 43:18-19a
God chooses not to remember our sin, so stop living in the selfish guilt of sin! Remember someone else, HIM!
"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins." Isaiah 43:25
Remembering Him, is proper remembering! He is salvation. Live in the greatness of salvation, forgiven.
"Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted." Isaiah 43:26 --- THIS IS FREEDOM, GAINED ONLY BY AND IN JESUS CHRIST'S FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS.
Father, help us remember how and what You remember, Your way. Help us use our memories to memorize Your word, Your ways and to do them. Thank You for all You gave into 2015. Help us remember Your deeds and memorize more of Your word, that we do it, in 2016. Expand our hearts with wisdom, perspective and prayer as You GIVE us more time to spread the gospel of JESUS, SALVATION FROM SIN because You want NONE to perish. We pray peace to Israel. Amen.
