Numbers matter to God. In the Old Testament, He wrote a whole book, which He named, "Numbers." We find the words, "offer" and "offering," used over 130 times, within Numbers 28-29. Many times, numbers, laws and genealogies can be dry reading. But they can also glow with new light, when we notice, they are words that describe and point straight to Jesus! Another well repeated notion, is how offerings, become a sweet aroma to God. The New Testament says, "Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." Ephesians 5:1-2. How great to see Jesus and ourselves throughout the Old and New Testaments. The book of "Numbers,"matters!
Jesus offered His all, His life. Because of the finished work on the cross, we receive all, salvation and eternal life. What is our job? What are we to give and offer? We are to offer all, surrender all and freely give the whole gospel to all we meet. All that we've been given is being made perfect, in order to offer.
"For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ." 2 Corinthians 3:15-17.
Ever Present, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Sovereign, Eternal Father, You are all, have given all and want none to perish. Numbers matter to You because You want NONE to perish. NONE. We have this to ask of You, Father God. Please keep us prayer aware, alive in all humility, enabled and readied by Your authority, to share You, so sweetly and powerfully. May the gospel go forth from our hearts, mouths and lives as we surrender all to You. Our hearts see urgency to share You this day. We pray to waste no moments. Please send peace to Jerusalem. Amen.
