A "Door" Study.

Spiders survive building webs and trapdoors to ensnare the unsuspecting. How do we see, know and identify the differences between a "trap" door and an "open" door? So the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if do do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it."
To the believer, we know Jesus as our door. "Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep." John 10:7
In Revelation, Jesus speaks to the Laodicean church which has closed its doors to Him!  "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." Revelation 4:20-22. My goal is to stand on Jesus' side of every door!
Beginning in Genesis, God warns us that sin is after us. We are warned that sin lies. It lies in wait, to trip and entrap as well as it speaks lies. Sin is often camouflaged in false notions of success and promise. Sin lies. For me, the "trapdoor spider" is a vivid warning to be careful of my steps. Wisdom shows us some doors can be surrounded by color and beauty but when opened, reveal deadly and poisonous dangers. Accidents happen, producing results, which we are to overcome, in Jesus, our overcomer.

JESUS OVERCOMES. IN HIM WE OVERCOME ALL SIN. WE ARE MEANT TO OVERCOME SIN IN HIM. WE CAN AND WE MUST, BECAUSE WE'RE HIS HOLY DUST.

Sometimes we make mistakes in judgment. We can easily make a wrong assessment about a door. Is it an open door filled with promise and God's will, or is it a trap door, camouflaged to make us trip, waste life, miss blessings and cause us trouble?  The LORD does not tell us to "figure things out." He says, "Follow Me."Every single one of us, has opened a door, that the Lord has not meant us to open. Sometimes we open the door to worry, rather than open our hearts to prayer, sound familiar? Of course.

His word faithfully provides, perspective.
"I know You can do everything and that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You." Job 42:2
"For He knows or frame; He remembers that we are dust." Psalm 103:14
"Though He slay me, yet I will trust Him." Job 13:15
"But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold." Job 23:10
"The refining pot is for silver and the furnace is for gold, But the LORD tests the hearts." Proverbs 17:3

Heavenly Father, Thank You for reminding us that we are dust.  You remember we are dust, it is we who forget that! You have made us holy dust, and sometimes when we sin, we get dirt on holy dust. You cleanse us when we rightly use, the soap of repentance. Help us avoid the well camouflaged trapdoors, where spiders might be hiding on the other side! We cannot identify such doors without Your help. We know they can be camouflaged with beauty, when they are actually are life draining, joy robbers, relationship killers and not an open door at all. Guard all our thoughts and guide our decision making research and viewpoints. Keep us following hard after holiness, and Your holy purpose.
Thank You for turning our messes into messages of Your faithfulness and our tests into testimonies of Your great faithfulness. Thank You for our Indweller, the Holy Spirit Himself who provides us with unlimited HELP, wisdom, power and knowledge. We fear not. We LIVE in awe, in grateful, holy fear of Your wisdom, great goodness, impartiality and unconditional love as You bring all things to pass. Our heart's desire is to be found faithful and in the very center of Your will. We love You and ask these things, be in accordance with Your highest will for us, in the matchless name of Jesus and for His sake. May Jesus be KNOWN, noticed and recognized, in our walks, lives and decisions. We need You, only You. We also pray peace to Jerusalem. Amen.
