Match our wills, to Yours. Amen.

I love what this minister taught about self-will over 189 years ago. Seems so true.
Alexander Maclaren (11 February 1826 – 5 May 1910) was an English non-conformist minister of Scottish origin.
"The one misery of man is self-will, the one secret of blessedness is the conquest over our own wills. To yield them up to God is set and peace. What disturbs us in this world is not  "trouble," but our opposition to trouble. The true source of all that frets and irritates, and wears away our lies, is not in eternal things, but in the resistance of our wills to the will of God expressed by external things."

Father of all that is good, Author of wisdom, Beginner and Ender of chosen trials and tests, help us yield to Your higher ways. You turn trials into testimonies of Your faithfulness. Help us keep our eyes on Jesus throughout each test as we try our best to bless You through them. Heighten our vision, widen our thoughts, deepen our prayers. We seek to be like Jesus. Thank You that our citizenship is in heaven. Jesus battled His will in Gethsemane. You see our wills always. Match our wills to Yours, in the matchless name of Jesus. Amen.
